I got a parcel today.
Big deal, I hear you say.
Well, this thing has been AWOL since May 27th. I know it's coming from England, but c'mon now, 10 weeks to get a bloody parcel. We have been waiting and waiting for this parcel. My Mum likes to send them and we like to receive them, it's our little connection for us all. Mum sends knickers for April and Scooby Doo pants for Loubie, crisps, teatowels, magazines. All kinds of goodies. (No more chocolate, too hot to mail!)
Anyway. There was a sticker on it that said contents not able to fly, so I guess they just stuck it on a ship and didn't bother to tell no-one. And what couldn't fly, that's what I want to know? That's Royal Mail for you.
On the other end, Japan, they inspected the parcel. I know this because it was taped up with the words 'inspected' all over it. My Dad had put $50 in cash in for the kids and IT WAS STILL THERE. Now I love my Britishness BUT, if it had been opened on the British end, you could pretty much guarantee that the $50 would have been gone (beers and pork scratchings, no doubt down the local pub, Uggghhhh).
But not the Okinawans, no way, that money came right here intact and ready to go.
You can leave your bike out here for weeks and it'll still be there. Rusty, but there.
Leave your kid in the street for a week, still there, still whining!
That's Okinawa. Little old ladies go for walks at 11pm along the dimly lit seawall. Three year old kids walk to school along the busy rd, not a care in the world. It's like the seventies, with internet!

I LOVE packages! They are the best.
10 weeks is a really long time to wait for one though.
I like all the things your mom sends. We never ever get knickers, teatowels, what are crisps, and CASH.. Nice.
I will tell my mom to get the kids some knickers and crips.
Hahaha, like the seventies but with the internet?! that's hilarious.
