"We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give"

So true. I don't get too much, salary wise. I quit my FT position at the Y to come out here and now have started my small photography business. It's very new. But, I have always believed in volunteering in some capacity. Even when not earning lots of money. I told you I am a hippy at heart! I volunteered as a Basic Literacy Skills tutor for young offenders in London, I gave Y time volunteering, volunteered with underprivileged youth and the list goes on...
Now, I have joined these 2 volunteer groups...
The first one is the Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation. See the banner at the top of the page. I was at an Ed Pierce 'captivated by the light' seminar in San Diego with some friends earlier this year and there was a showing of this organizations work. It touched me. Hard. I told Amanda (who happened to be Loubie's preschool teacher and photography lover) that I think I want to eventually volunteer with this group. This is not something I would 'enjoy' doing, but if I can give a family (that want them) beautiful photographic memories of their baby, then it is worth it.
The second organization is the Littlest Heroes Project. Photographs are captured of a child who has had or may be battling any serious illness...Check out the site and it will amaze you. What will also amaze you is that this org. has been started by a 17 year old girl with a story to tell...
I hope I can create some meaningful images for people. That's what it's all about...I hope to give for LIFE!
